Man, I Remember the Good Old Days When Receivers Didn’t Wear Gloves!

I haven’t posted for a while. Its because the workouts have been pretty much plain vanilla. Since my last post on Wednesday I have done Tabata Training everyday. Oh, and I did the scheduled P90X Legs and Back on Friday. Today (er, I mean yesterday, Saturday… its past midnight) I decided to do a i30x5 Chest and Back. I forgot how absolutely intense the workout is. After 40 minutes I was toast. My chest and back muscles are still tight from this morning’s workout. The plyo/cardio circuit really ups the ante for the workout. With all the substitutions I am doing, it may seem that I am no longer doing P90X. However, I consider these other workouts as supplemental.
My son has been playing running back and receiver for the last couple of games. He used to be the quarterback, a position he has been playing since he was 5 (he is 9 years old now). He is the only kid I know that hates being the QB. Anyway, like I said, he changed positions and he absolutely loves it. He has done well. In fact, in the last couple of games he has scored 5 receiving touchdowns. So anyway, he convinced me into buying him a new pair of receiver gloves. Man, those things cost me $40!!! I told him that he better not drop any passes. What happened to the good old days when receivers didn’t wear gloves? LOL!!!

Yeah man…give me the good ol’ days when all you had was a tube of Cramer’s pine tar or some Stickum. Now I think, those are banned! Decent batting gloves are about the same price and I think they do about the same thing. Gloves have changed the game to the point where QB’s used to throw AT the receiver…now they just have to put in NEAR the receiver.
I never got into the whole glove wearing thing either … lots of my buddies did however and they still couldn’t catch (-:
$40 is a bit pricey!
Hi Boomer,
I didn’t know that there was such a thing as football gloves:) I think that is awesome that your son is doing so well after doing a switch-up of positions. Catching those passes and scoring for the team is a big deal!! Good for him:)
FYI: With your crazy intense workouts…I would of been toast after 5 minutes. Hopefully your chest and back are feeling better:) Take care Boomer!
Steve… yeah, the gloves are sticky and, besides, as my son says, “Larry Fitzgerald wears them”.
Jeff… Can you talk to my son! I tried the old, “the poor kids in Africa don’t have gloves” and he said, “dad, they don’t play football in Africa”!
Julie… Chest and back feels great!
Julie…
hahaha … he got you with that response Boomer! He earned the gloves with the witty reply!
