Insanity Day 53 – Max Recovery, P90X Round 3 Day 10 – Yoga X (No Yoga Today)

I did Max Recovery today.  You know, when I did this workout the last time I thought it was fairly easy, however, today it really hammered me.  I am positive it is because I am doing P90X too.  My body is taking a beating.

This workout does a lot of strength training moves.  You do a whole lot of push ups and leg exercises.  By the time I was done with the workout my quads were on fire.  I am going to suffer during tomorrow’s leg and back workout.

Shaun T calls this a recovery workout, however, it really only takes a break from the cardio workouts.  He still brings it with muscle endurance movements.  Whenever you see the word “Max”, you know you’re in for a butt kicking.  It kind of reminds of P90X recovery week where you think you are going to get a break and then you find out that Core Synergistics just has you for lunch!

I did not do the P90X Yoga X workout today.  After getting trashed from Max Recovery, I did not feel like I was going to be able to hold any Yoga postures.

One of the problems I am finding with doing Insanity and P90X at the same time is that one workout kind of clashes with the other.  In other words, I have P90X leg day tomorrow and Max Recovery just burned my quads.  You don’t get sufficient recovery time.  I would not recommend doing both workouts together even if you can handle doing 2 intense workouts a day.  I can, however, see doing a hybrid of the 2 workouts.  Since I only have a little more than a week of Insanity, I will continue just so I can cross Insanity off my bucket list.

Here is a video that shows a few variations of the push up.  A lot the movements look familiar if you have done P90X.  In fact, I know that you X’ers have done Dive Bombers.  Well, how about one arm Dive Bombers.  Today’s video pick of the day…

Its New Years Eve so I will keep this really short.  I did Max Recovery to satisfy both my Insanity and P90X workouts today.

Anyway, have a safe and fun New Years Eve.  Don’t let this be you (see video).  Boomer’s video pick of the day…

Insanity: Day 39 Max Recovery

Posted on December 24th, 2009 in Insanity, Workout Log | 4 Comments »

Its Max Recovery day.  Max Recovery starts with some yoga style stretching then goes into some plank core exercises.  The next set of exercises work the quads, calves and core.  Next there are more plank exercises.  The last portion consists of standing abs/core exercises.

This workout is relatively easy.  You will get a burn in your quads and  your shoulders/triceps will get a burn from many of the plank exercises.  If you do the exercises correctly you should also feel you abs getting a good workout.

Ok, so not much to report.  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas tomorrow.

Are you thinking about working out tomorrow?  Well, what would Santa do?  Check out Boomer’s video pick of the day…
